I am trying to sell some of my climbing gear that I do not use and I was wondering if there is a recommended place for that within the forum, or is it a bad idea to post it here?

I haven't been a member long enough to recommend this site. If it is a well know brand and a universal climbing item (rock climbing, caving, tree climbing) ebay would probably be best.

One nice thing about listing your item here on Canopy Chatter is that you have preselected buyer pool to market to. So if it is a arborist or tree climbing item this site might be better.

I have basically everything needed for two people to have separate sets of gear for both SRT and DRT minus a few items--some used very little. I also have some odds and ends for tree climbing in addition to the above.

My preference would be to sell it in a couple climbing kits. I might try ebay but I thought I would give it a shot here first. I just don't want to come off as a sales person or something and I understand that buying used gear is frowned upon by some. If a moderator wants to chime in on whether or not it's OK to post some specifics I won't be offended. I can also handle it through a PM too.

There's no problem at all with using this forum to let people know you have gear to sell. Announce it here, then use the personal message feature to actually "do" business. Commercial sales and salespeople are not welcome as this is a non-profit and non-commercial site...but as long as we keep things within the "community", go for it!
