A climber on TreeBuzz owns two Rock Exotica made Unicenders, one was purchased when the device was first released, the other recently. They posted detail photos from each Uni, the early made Unicender had much better build quality in regard to the rivets and chain links. The newer one looked a bit more slapdash on the riveting and link milling details. Apparently a case of production complacency.

Rock Exotica is well known for excellent design and production quality. After seeing Petzl screw up the Grigri 2, Ron's post about the ABC ascender cam and now the Unicender, it makes you realize how important it is for climbers to inspect mechanical gear regularly, keep an eye on it while climbing, and not take anything for granted no matter what the reputation of the manufacturer.

Hey Bama, thanks for sharing this. I just checked the Wesspur website and discovered they have it listed as "temporarily unavailable." I had thought about buying one a year or so ago, but decided to waste the money on other gear instead.
