Post Warm weather brings clean slingshot throws
Hate global warming, we didn't have winter this year first time in my lifetime living in New England. Ok, that's the bad stuff. Good stuff is I did some scouting in a new area yesterday and found some nice trees. We opted for the biggest pine in the particular parcel of woods, ergo slingshot required to set the rope. Got set up to fire at approx. 75' high limb, very tight window to make the throw. Set the Sidewinder slings at about 3/4 power on a 10 foot pole, air temps in the mid 70'sf. One shot, nearly flat trajectory, bulls-eye. Of course the throw bag was in the crown of an oak behind the pine but all went fine setting a rope. What's different about this is during the winter I can only hit 75' with a massively curved trajectory and prayers, aim success percentage goes way down.

After climbing up I set my friend Paul's 140' rope a little lower than my setting, he likes DRT so often he's on the lowest possible live branch in a white pine

So I get to hang around and take photos while Paul climbs up, then I lead climb, drop a rope down to him and advance his rope up to move things along

Paul doing a stand-up job (pun intended) advancing his lanyard to get to his high point in the tree. Typical height for eastern Mass. older white pine 110' (measured using ENTS protocol from the ground, got 109.77')
