Here is the latest update on the 2009 Rendezvous Oct. 1-5 at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC.
In addition to the cabins that we are renting bunks in, the park also has a nice Bed & Breakfast in the Manor House. A few people have already made reservations. If you are interested in getting one of the few available call Renee at 336 778 6370.
Some people have requested motel info in the area. Also at the same exit there is a very wide assortment of places to eat. I counted 20 and I am pretty sure that I missed some. I was driving and writing. ALL of the typical fast food places including 2 Italian, 2 Mexican, Ruby Tuesdays, Applebys, Waffle House, I-Hop and Paneras. For the campers you can walk 1/2 mile to the Harris Teeter grocery store that has a great deli. Right next door is a Thai restaurant, a Chinese take out, PaPa John's Pizza and Libby Hill Seafood Restaurant.
This week Courtney K., Chris Weavil (Maint. Super, Arborist and T'Wood Historian) and I drove the entire property to locate all of the areas where we will allowed to climb. They are numerous and large! We will have maps for everyone and we will put up flagging tape and signs indicating approved parking areas for us. We even have a fairly large swamp for those of you that are at home climbing out of the mud. This area is a great bird and wood duck habitat.
I am lining up speakers, volunteers and demonstrators, so things are moving along quite well.
I will need the $125 event fee BEFORE THE END OF MAY. This will be the early bird price, after May it will go up. The deadline for the bunk rental in one of the cabins is the end of August. They will probably go much quicker than that so get one while they are still available. There will NOT be price increase on the bunks, they are $100 for the 4 nights through August.
