Hi guys !
I've made a search and i haven't found anything about the CAFOTROP (for CAnopĂ©e FOrĂȘts TROpicales, or tropical forests canopy) wich is a french organisation offering courses, climbers and technical supports to french scientific groups making inventorys in tropical environments like the CNRS (national center of scientific researchs).
The CAFOTROP was founded by some great tree climbers and the first mission was in New Caledonia in 2005, then they went in Gabon in 2006, Madagascar and Argentina in 2007, French Guyana in 2009. These are the official missions, they are still acting now but as french researchs had been "torpedoed" by our last gouvernment there was no big missions since 2009. So they help scientifics to learn and train to tree climbing, and even to find private founds for their work !
They are great persons and i hope for you to have the luck to climb with them some day.
Here's their site :
http://www.cafotrop.com only in french sadly, but if you have any question i'd be glad to find the answer and translate it.
