Blue Ridge Parkway Spring Climb In
Hey Bob, You out there?
Any news about the BRP climb in this year?
I definitely want to make the pilgrimage up to Virginia this year if you will be hosting it again.
I have heard rumors of dates. Anything firm?
Thanks, Obi

I just called Bob a little while ago, and he assures you an announcement is forthcoming.
That is if he doesn't re~enact some of the better scenes from "The Shining" first.
Poor boy is snowed in pretty good up there.
April 16, 17, 18 for those of you who can't wait. Might as well plan for at least five days of from work though.
The rumour is that Fouche may be there, so please kids, helmets mandatory, and lead pipe friction savers prohibited.
We are only nine Fridays away!

BobInVa reports:
(Bob placed this under the International category...I am re-posting it here!)
Hi Everyone from the Frozen Blue (Actually WHITE!) Ridge Parkway. Since before Christmas I have been snowed in more than not. Been 10 days since leaving here and things are getting a little crazy in the cabin. The dogs look at me and just drool. The only knot I have been tying is a hangman's noose. We were thinking about throwing a Donner Party until I just got a call from JayBird and he really cheered me up! He has promised to sling shot in supplies and my latest netflix. Haven't gotten mail in a couple of weeks either.
Anyway, time to think about Spring. My next Climb-In will be April 16-18. Already looking like a great one. For those that have not attended this is purely a social event to share in the love of the sport. You need to bring your own gear and please include a helmet and cambium saver. We primitive camp out in the woods near my home off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I am located 4 miles south of Meadows of Dan, Va. If you don't want to camp there are numerous places to stay within a few miles of here. Check my website for locations: www.blueridgetreeclimbing.com or give me a call. We do a big pot luck dinner on Saturday evening so bring your speciality or just stop at your local deli and pick something up. I ask for a small donation to cover my expenses.
Call or email if you need assistance. Can't wait to see you all again.

*NOTE: Please let me know if you plan on attending, I need to know how many shrimp to buy!

So who all is gonna make it, and who all is gonna miss it? I trust there will be a hearty contingency from the GHQ.

I just informed my boss that I will be absent from work between April 15th and the 19th.
Is there cell phone service up there?

 Cell Service
We do IF you are on Verizon. We got a brand new tower 2 miles from here a few months ago. Other carriers work fair, AT&T doesn't work at all last time we checked.
Looking forward to company,
Bob in Va.

Man... I'd love to go but I doubt I can swing ANOTHER journey to the far east.
Hrm, flights look like $230 to Charlotte. What's the closest airport? I have a ton of work the week before, but hardly any the one after...

 Airports close to BRP Climb-In
Hi Oak,
The Charlotte airport is about 2 hours from here. Just go straight up I-77 to the Blue Ridge Parkway hang a right and go 17 miles east (north on the BRP.
GSO > Piedmont Triad International in Greensboro is about 1.5 hours from here. Roanoke is also about 1.5 hours away.
Hope that helps and also hope you can make it. Call me if I can be of further assistance.

Sam---If you are coming, you can fly into Charlotte and one of use can come around and pick you up. Or....just fly on into Atlanta and ride north with one of us. You come east...we will get you the rest of the way!

I'm planning on being there.
Oak, if flights are any less expensive to PHL (Philadelphia) or BWI (Baltimore)
I can pick you up and drop you back at the airport afterward, too.

Blue (Actually WHITE!) Ridge Parkway -Tax Day Climb
How are the chances that the place is still under a few feet of snow this year?.
Just Wondering prior to making plane reservations. Looking to fligh into either Durham or Greensboro, NC. depending which airline has cheaper flights.
Any Ideas from any of the locals?

 Count me in
Bob,
Unless the weather man guarantees Noah's flood that weekend, plan on seeing me sometime Frioday morning. I feel the need to get me a little "Hobbit Time" in.

Wiley....Just promise me that you won't be bringing that cannon of yours and firing at any bathrooms, OK? Those porta-potties will disintegrate if treated that way!
