 Just a simple backyard climb.
Well, I thought I was going to get off work a few minutes early or at least on time today so I could get a short climb in, but wouldn't ya know it, I was turning my email off after clocking out and found a last minute request to enter an order and ship something out tonight. Thirty minutes later I dropped the package off at UPS on my way home. I'm either dedicated or just stupid. I won't ask which because I know what J Bird will tell me. However, I still got home in time to hand throw a 40' setting in Norton ( a pleasant Water Oak in my back yard ) and soon had a basic DRT traditional rig set up with a 4/2 Blakes in Safety Blue. I body thrust the first 12 or so feet, then switched over to single foot locking. Norton is a friendly tree with a half dozen comfortable crotches accessable on the way up and I stopped a little while in each of them just to enjoy his company. It may not be a Redwood or giant Cypress, but I sure felt good being back home in a tree. After just chilling at the TIP for a while, I started a leasurely descent, swinging from side to side around the trunk and stopping at every branch along the way just to say I'd been there. All this time, the wife was kind enough to delay starting dinner until I could get back down. Pulled the rope down in the dark after dinner. Somr days it's just good to be alive.
