Post Recent west coast old-growth trip
I recently went out to visit the old-growth redwoods with my wife Meg to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Besides visiting the redwood groves for the first time my goal was to see some of the trees I'd drawn from photos for the book "The Wild Trees". Mission accomplished. This was not a climbing trip, not to mention I'm not interested in ninja climbing in protected redwood parks. At any rate it was great to be in the old-growth woods, standing under the giants you can really appreciate the challenges of climbing them, the scale is ridiculous, clearly expedition level climbing.

Nice pics, Andrew! We don't have any redwoods this far north, but everything else looks like here -- especially the sword ferns and that moss-covered bigleaf maple!

It's been too long since I read Wild Trees; is that Oregon or California you were in?

Wow, an old-growth redwood forest is about the best place in the world to have a spiritual renewal of one's vows. Congrats on the big quarter!

Northern California, visited several of the state redwood parks.

Wonderful photos moss. when you were feeding you photos to facebook, I found my self checking often to see if you had shared another :) I plan on taking a pilgrimage next year to stand in the presence of these elders. Your photos make it difficult to wait until next year!
