 SRT TIP Tests
There is a problem with SRT when using a cinched TIP. With redirects the friction quickly becomes too great to retrieve the cinched TIP. From various sources, a few methods have been developed to resolve the problem. This video shows a simple test of one of those methods ... with some WRADS 'footage' thrown in for good measure (lol). Any advice, warnings, cautions, or other ideas will be greatly appreciated. EDIT: I'm looking for new ideas on how to resolve the problem.

 Re: SRT TIP Tests
More tests (& vids) of the other methods are planned.
... still looking for ideas ... anyone?

 Re: SRT TIP Tests
Good stuff Jack. I'm guessing this isn't a pressing problem for the majority of climbers on TCC. I don't think most rec climbers are going to be doing a lot of redirects on a cinched TIP, or if they do they'll just climb back up to a point where they can pull the tail through the redirects and create an isolated path to the ground.
In general for woods climbing I see trying to remotely take out a massively redirected cinched TIP as asking for trouble. Goal for me is to simplify as much as is reasonable, especially solo climbing where creating too much complexity can be counterproductive.
Speaking for myself I only do a cinched TIP in certain situations (where i have to), probably 90% of my SRT climbs I'm ground anchoring. I'm not a convert to "All SRT All The Time" (ASATT) climbing, I'm using SRT for access and then switch to DRT for climbing the crown which works best for me.
All that said it's worth exploring these problems/solutions, never know when it might come in handy. -AJ

Even on rec climbs, making a lot of SRT redirects makes exploring large spreading crowns and adjacent trees a lot of fun - as well as useful tool. But, I perhaps this issue is sorta 'beyond-the-scope' here. I'll reconsider (abandon) this topic.

 Re: SRT TIP Tests
What Moss said, for me too.
Trying to pull out a redirected limb cinch from the ground can be pretty tough. If your pulldown is a throwline, it can be impossible. If I have to limb cinch, I'll switch to something else when I get up there, if moving around is needed. One time I just could not throw to the exact branch I wanted, but a smaller limb to cinch was nearby. I climbed on that, then pulled up a trunk-tied line and switched over. There are not many things easier than pulling out a ground set SRT line.

 Re: SRT TIP Tests
I use redirects on some of my research climbs, and often that's on a cinched SRT setting. But my basic policy for attempting a pulldown on something like that is: "don't".
